About Us
Our society was founded on 4 June 2009 and is firmly embedded in the tradition of the former German-English Society, which has promoted and deepened the process of reconciliation and understanding between British and German citizens in the Ruhr region since the end of the Second World War.
Many encounters between British guests and German hosts have turned former enemies into friends. Our society is committed to this tradition and will continue it.
At the same time, the Deutsch-Britische Gesellschaft Ruhr will be a forum for dialogue between the citizens of the Ruhr area and the global world, based on the English language. Thus, if you are interested in speaking English with others, listening to or giving lectures in English, or finding out about other activities in this area, you are very welcome to join our society.
